Education

Dr. Steve Degenhardt is a Michigan native who grew up in metro-Detroit. He attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School before attending Michigan State University. Dr. Steve finished Michigan State with high honors while leading the lacrosse team to sequential conference championships and national playoff appearances. Dr. Degenhardt received his D.D.S. from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City where he received the Research Fellow Award and was recognized as a Dean’s Scholar, signifying academic achievement in the top 10% of his class.

For his orthodontic residency, Dr. Degenhardt attended University of Illinois at Chicago where he graduated at the top of his class, receiving the Dr. Jerome & Mrs. Joy Fein Scholarship which is awarded to the top orthodontic resident. Steve’s dissertation evaluated the effect of obstructive sleep apnea on orthognathic surgery patients.

Outside the Office

In his free time, Dr. Steve loves spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors. During winter Steve will be snowboarding at Nubs Nob or Boyne Mountain. Favorite summertime activities are water skiing and sailing on Lake Charlevoix. In addition, he loves staying physically fit with weightlifting, yoga, swimming, and chasing his Golden Doodle around the yard! Dr. Steve and his wife, Bryanna, have traveled around the world visiting several European countries and even the “Land Down Under”, Australia.
